Interesting.
One thing I've always done is stuff my gloves into the helmet.
Never thought much about the sweat thing eating it, but it would have endured the odd droplet from my head.....'specially the dirt bike lid. :D
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

At least the new helmets have removable linings by comparison to the old ones, like Shoei S12 & S21 varieties ! I wash the lining from my ONeal Sierra (dualsport style) which will prolong its life. Ventilation in helmets is a major plus too.
