1974 XL350 Project

Postby Zedboy » Wed Mar 06, 2019 6:20 pm

I bought a bunch of XL350 K0's a while back, one rider, four frames and a heap of engines and parts...probably nearly parts enough bits to sling together two more bikes. :D

The ride-able one needs a new countershaft oil seal and leaks badly, so it's been left to wait it's turn as the cases need to be split to change it :-?
So I've decided to rebuild one of the parts sets.
This frame is an early K0 (#520 to roll off the line) the engine is around #5275. It may well be a correct engine for this bike as the early cases were prone to cracking across the back behind the kick starter.
Honda soon realised this and added another bolt to the area, so it is possible the engine may have been a warranty replacement?...well that's what I'm going to believe

Frame now back from blasters and ready to paint.
I've sent a bunch of parts off for zinc plating and vapour blasting.

This one is going a bit slow...been concentrating on the Z1-A ...
However, I did bling up the forks today while sorting the Kwakka hubs :eyebrows:
